On October 29th,the Ministry of Education announced the "First Batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Course Recognition Results" through the application recommendation,network review and conference review network. A total of 13 courses from Lanzhou University were selected, and three courses declared by the School of Physical Science and Technology were successfully selected. Among them, the Fundamentals of Thermal Science Ⅱ hosted by Professor Honggang Luo and the Particle Physics hosted by Professor Xiang Liu were selected as the first batch of "National First-Class Undergraduate Courses" of offline first-class courses and the Fundamentals of Liberal Arts Physics hosted by Associate Professor Jiachi Zhang was selected as the first batch of "National First-Class Undergraduate Courses" of online and offline mixed first-class courses.

Curriculum is the core element of talents training and the quality of the curriculum directly determines the quality of talents training. The recognition of first-class undergraduate courses is of great significance to the school's double first-class development.

The School of Physical Science and Technology was selected as a comprehensive reform pilot college in 2018.With the strong support of the school, comprehensive reforms guided by "teaching reform" were implemented. The college meticulously organized the application and recommendation of the first batch of "National First-Class Undergraduate Courses". Three courses were successfully selected, of which two offline courses were selected at the same time. It is reported that in order to implement the "Implementation Opinions of the Ministry of Education on the Construction of First-class Undergraduate Courses" and implement the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for first-class undergraduate courses,the Ministry of Education launched the first national-level offline first-class courses,national-level online and offline mixed first-class courses and national-level social practice first-class courses recommendation and recognition work in November 2019 ,which aims to promote the participation of all teachers in curriculum concept innovation,content innovation and model innovation in order to form a teaching reform atmosphere that creates a "golden class".

With the strong support of the school, the School of Physical Science and Technology was selected as a pilot college and started a journey of exploration to implement comprehensive reforms under the guidance of "teaching reform". In September 2017, the teaching reform was proposed and 15 grassroots teaching organizations (teaching and research sections) were established to organize curriculum groups and comprehensively sort out the curriculum system.In March 2018, 10 working groups were established to comprehensively promote the construction of the college's "first-class disciplines". In June 2018, the College’s Strategic Development Committee was established and the first High-End Alumni Forum was held. In September 2018, it was included in the Comprehensive Reform Pilot Unit of Lanzhou University and the organizational system of teaching and research section, party branch and labor union were established to ensure the college’s teaching work, party building work and mass work are integrated into a unified framework. In February 2019, the construction of scientific research teams was launched.In June 2019, the concept of "team-run college" was implemented and the performance distribution reform was implemented.In July 2019, the physics branch of the alumni association was established.
