On the afternoon of November 8, the School of Physics and Technology held the 2020 Freshmen Entrance Education Theme Report and November Grade Conference at Tianshan Hall C302. Dean Luo Honggang, all members of the student affairs group and all 2020 students participated. The meeting was presided over by Tian Guanhui, the counselor of 2020.
Firstly, Dean Luo Honggang affirmed the excellent performance of the students in the college's 2020 freshmen debate competition, and launched the entrance education report with the topic "Should children believe fairy tales" as the starting point. Dean Luo pointed out that university is a new starting point for life. Freshmen should adapt to the new learning and living environment as soon as possible, choose the direction they are good at and learning methods suitable for themselves according to their own characteristics, and lay a solid foundation and plan for the future. Dean Luo emphasized that at the university level, we must improve our own abilities, have ideals and pursuits, learn to endure hardships at the hard-working age, learn to face the society independently, and take responsibility and take control of your life. Dean Luo sent words to the freshmen of the 2020 grade that they should cultivate their own comprehensive capabilities and enhance their competitiveness. While becoming strong for themselves, they should give back to the society and the country, be a person benefiting the society, and be fully prepared to step into the society.
Dean Luo also introduced the college’s development history, subject direction, faculty, scientific research strength, and social services, especially the teaching reform and the growth of scientific research funding. He hoped that students would make full use of the platform of the School of Physics, master physics ideas, improve scientific literacy, and become a person who is capable, confident, able to adapt to the society and develop in an all-round way.
Finally, the 2020 counselor Tian Guanhui, summarized the meeting, explained and emphasized the students’ study, life, daily management, etc., reminded students to increase their awareness of preventing telecom fraud, pay attention to their own protection, and encourage students to study hard while actively participate in college activities and continuously improve their overall quality.
